Tokyo Amusement Parks

Tokyo has an array of fun attractions; it’s not all about dazzling shrines and museums. Kids will be particularly happy here as there are a number of theme parks, including Tokyo Disneyland and the adjacent Disney Sea. You can even stay overnight at Tokyo Disney Resort.

There are many theme parks in the Japanese capital, including Tokyo Disneyland, Yomiuriland, and Laqua, with Disneyland being the best theme park for its variety of rides and the appeal of Mickey and friends, or Mickey-san in this case. Disneyland is loaded with thrilling rollercoaster rides and more sedate playground activities for little ones, such as the Disney parade, while restaurants, cafés, and snack bars are all around.

The adjacent Disney Sea has drastically expanded the size of the park and also has plenty of attractions for all ages. It boasts the unique Seven Ports of Call, with its various rides on a nautical theme, as well as scores of boutiques, a shopping mall, and many fine eateries.

Yomiuiriland is another popular theme park in suburban Tokyo and also features many thrilling rides along with a huge Ferris wheel. Summertime is the best time to visit Yomiuiriland as it has a water park - Water Amusement Island – which boasts half a dozen swimming pools and several slides.

Laqua theme park is less glitzy than Toyo Disneyland, yet has some unique rides, including twisty rollercoasters and the Big O centre-less Ferris wheel. It is located in the Suidobashi area of central Tokyo and is a lot cheaper than Disneyland.

Tokyo Dome city is also very popular and comes with good shopping and eating as well as impressive attractions. You can even overnight in Dome City. Hanayashiki Amusement Park, previously a flower park, is a mini theme park and best for those with less time on their hands, while the Sony Centre is great fun for computer geeks.
