Shibuya is all about sightseeing and shopping, with Shibuya awash with glitzy malls, boutiques, and fashion stores. It is also loaded with places to eat and there are bars and girls galore at night. There are plenty of Shibuya hotels here as well as landmark sights to check out, such as the infamous Shibuya crossing.
Center Gai, near Shibuya Station, is the best place to check out the in-fashion clothing stores. It has a buzzing vibe and is also home to innumerable music stores and gaming arcades. Meanwhile, the Bunkamura complex is good for those into the arts, with its art museum, theatres, bookstore, and café. Other museums to check out in Shibuya include the Electric Energy Museum and the Tobacco and Salt Museum.
Shibuya is not awash with hotels, but there are some high-end options and the Love Hotel Hill (near Dogenzaka) has many so-called love hotels to stay at. There are many four and five-star hotels in Shibuya, but for cheaper places to stay you’d be better off heading for nearby Asakusa or Ueno.
If you have spare time in Shibuya, consider heading to Ebisu where there is a more sophisticated nightlife scene, while farther afield is the trendy shopping and eating area of Shimokitazawa.
